Special needs baby toys?

Question
My son is a special needs baby and I'm having a hard time finding toys for him to play with that he can learn from. If anyone has any information on a place or website I can go to I'd appreciate it. He is in all therapies possible. They have been using toys that I cannot find in stores that he seems to respond better with. He just turned two in March and is mentally at ten months old.
Answer
I am not sure what your child's diagnosis is, but you can use the "typical" toys in addition to what they are using in therapies. You can also try www.enablingdevices.com I have worked with this company several times and I like the staff there. You can also google special needs toys and get a list of places to buy from. Just make sure they are reputable. Ask your therapist for a list of sites. My only warning is that a lot of times, the dealers of toys geared toward families with special needs use the same toys as every other company just marked WAY up. It is unfortunate, but companies see a profit and know that a lot of parents will pay whatever it takes. I just hate to see families get taken advantage of when they are already under so much stress!
